Chennai, Mar 13: Alleging that the US was acting against the interest of Tamils in Sri Lanka, a Tamil outfit today sought boycott of its products like KFC, Pepsi and Coca Cola and announced that it would stage a protest infront of the American Consulate here tomorrow.
"Against America, which is trying to hurt the interests of Tamils in Sri Lanka let us boycott KFC, Pepsi, Coca Cola," the outfit, May 17 Movement, said.
A host of Tamil organisations like Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam and political parties including Vaiko-led MDMK will take part in the protest, it claimed.
Alleging that pressure was exerted by US over the UN Human Rights Council, the Movement said "that was why the panel deferred release of its report on rights violations" in Sri Lanka. "America did so as Maithripala Sirisena who assumed office in January (this year) was its supporter."
The report was originally scheduled to be released on March 25 this year and has been deferred by six months to September. The report is on issues including serious violations and alleged human rights abuses and related crimes committed in during the 2009 war against the LTTE.
