YS Chowdhary is the richest cabinet minister
Popularly known as Sujana Chowdary, YS Chowdary, was an industrialist by profession and reportedly the richest in the cabinet with Rs 190 crores asset. Founder and Chairman of the Sujana Group of Industries, he belongs to the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh and belongs to the powerful Kamma community.
He is considered very close to the Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu, he was also Naidu's first choice when PM Narendra Modi asked him to nominate a person from his party for a cabinet berth. Born in 1961, he earned his Masters in Engineering before spearheading the Sujana Group of companies. He also belongs to a family of government officers.
Jayant Sinha
After YS Chowdhary, MoS Finance Jayant Sinha comes at second spot, in the list of newly inducted ministers in the Modi cabinet, in terms of assets. He has a total asset of Rs 55 crores, including movable and immovable.
Mahesh Sharma
The BJP MP from Gautam Budh Nagar has a total wealth of Rs 47 crores. He is the owner of Kailash group of hospitals in Noida and Greater Noida.
Birender Singh
The newly appointed Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Chaudhary Birender Singh who is a popular name in Haryana's politics has a total wealth of Rs 8 crore in his name.
Manohar Parrikar
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has an asset of Rs 2.4 crores in his name. The former Goa chief minister who has been promoted to Centre from State politics is considered an honest face in Indian politics.
