Indore, April 9: Himani Shivpuri, the veteran actress who is popular in Bollywood and television world, has been booked in a cheating case.
Indore Police registered the case against the actress following a court directive. The actress has been accused of cheating a producer in Madhya Pradesh.
The case was registered at Vijay Nagar Police Station in Indore under Section 420 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The cops have already begun investigations.
An Indore-based film producer, Mohammad Ali had petitioned the court alleging that 54-year-old Himani had entered into an agreement with him to act in his two of his movies, on March 22, 2011, the police sub inspector said, adding that the actress had taken Rs 5 lakh as advance from Ali.
In his plea, Ali stated that Himani had inflicted a huge financial loss on him by abandoning acting in his movies midway, the police sub-inspector said.
Based on Ali's complaint, on March 22, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Santosh Prasad Shukla directed Vijay Nagar police station to register a case and get back to it with an investigation report.
