Domestic Violence Shocker: Bollywood actress Rati Agnihotri beaten up, husband grilled in Mumbai
Mumbai, March 16: A day after filing a case of domestic violence, Mumbai Police questioned Bollywood veteran actress Rati Agnihotri's husband Anil Virwani.
The actress accused her husband of beating her up and torturing her both mentally and physically. One Mumbai Police Officer was quoted as saying, "The case is a domestic matter and investigations are under way."
"Virmani has complied with every request made by the police. On Saturday, he came to the station in the evening and recorded his statement," he added.
According to Rati Agnihotri's complaint, her husband had physically assaulted her on March 7. Police questioned four people including the domestic help of the couple.
Many people were shocked to know about the domestic violence case involving the celebrity couple who are married for last 30 years.
The officer also said, "A case has been registered against Virwani under IPC sections 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 350 (use of criminal force) and 506 (criminal intimidation)."
The 54-year-old actress, who stays in south Mumbai's Worli area with her architect-businessman husband and actor son Tanuj, had been suffering the violence for a long time, according to her complaint.
