Mumbai, May 29: After Maggi came under the scanner of the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration for containing high levels of lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG), Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit has been served with a notice for endorsing the food brand.
Dixit was served with a legal notice by the Haridwar Food and Drug Administration. According to reports, Dixit has been asked to reply to the notice in 15 days.
The notice asks her to reply to certain questions pertaining to the nutrition levels of Maggi and how it is good for health. If she fails to reply to the notice a case could be registered against her.
This comes after the Uttar Pradesh FDA had found MDG and lead in Maggi beyond the permissible limits.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Food Safety Commissioner Vijay Bahadur said orders had been issued to Nestle to also "look into the quality" of other Maggi batches, following some samples reportedly testing positive for possessing higher-than-permissible levels of lead and monosodium glutamate.
There were reports that the 2-minute noodle could face a countrywide ban.
