31 dead, many injured as blasts rip through Xinjiang region
According to reports, two SUVs rammed into shoppers who were at the market and threw explosives out of their vehicles before the blasts occurred.
At least 31 were killed and over 90 were injured in the blast.
Most of the casualties were elders who were at the market for early shopping or vegetable traders. Chaos erupted at the scene of the blast.
There has been constant tension in the region due to which security was beefed up in order to avoid any untoward incident. Thursday's attack at the market comes less than a month after an explosion hit a train station in Urumqi, killing three people and wounding 79 others.
