BJP trying to polarise polls: Congress

"It is raking up the Uniform Civil Code issue to polarise the upcoming Bihar elections and this will be followed by the Ram temple issue in the run up to 2017 polls in Uttar Pradesh," Congress leader Nawang Rigzin Jora told reporters here.

Accusing the PDP-BJP coalition of raking up controversies one after another, he said it seemed that the government was suffering from "obsessive compulsive controversy disorder".

He said the statement by BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra hinted at "weaker ties between coalition partners (PDP and BJP)".

Patra had on Sunday said the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution continues to be part of the party's core ideology and it will work in that direction whenever it garners the required numbers in Parliament.

The elections to Bihar Assembly is scheduled for later this year.
