BJP office attack: Anticipatory bail of HP CM's son extended
Shimla, Feb 4: The anticipatory bail of Vikramaditya Singh, Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress President and son of Chief Minister Virbharda Singh, was extended for three days by a local court today.
He was earlier granted interim bail till today in the case pertaining to attack on BJP office on January 29 last. At least 12 activists of both Youth Congress and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) were injured in a clash during a protest by Youth Congress activists, led by Vikramaditya, in front of BJP office against the Land Acquisition Ordinance promulgated by the NDA government.
One BJYM activist Rajesh Sharda sustained serious eye injury and is under treatment at PGI, Chandigarh. Youth Congress activists, including Vikramaditya, have been accused of smashing the windowpanes of the BJP office. Additional District and Sessions Judge Padam Singh, who heard the plea for confirmation of bail, extended the bail till February 7, the next date of hearing.
A day after the clash, Himachal Pradesh Governor Kalyan Singh had summoned Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar, Additional Director General S R Mardi and Superintendent of Police D W Negi, seeking detailed report about the violence. The opposition BJP had met the Governor and submitted a memorandum, demanding dismissal of the government.
