Lucknow, March 16: Politics in India is a costly affair and a BJP leader from Fatehpur Sikri is learning it the hard way!

After Indian Railways issued Vinod Samariya a recovery notice for a train he had booked for Narendra Modi's rally in 2014, he threatened to commit suicide in case the money was recovered from him through auction of his property by authorities.

Samariya rued that his efforts to approach party leaders on the issue have not borne efforts so far.

The BJP leader had booked 10 coaches to transport party workers and supporters to a rally in Lucknow that was to be addressed by the then party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Samariya was the city president of BJP in 2014, and had deposited Rs.18,39,560.

The railways has now slapped him with a notice, seeking pending amount since the expenses totalled up to Rs.30,68,950 owing to additional stoppages of the train to pick up workers en route the rally.

Samariya said he had written to BJP national president Amit Shah, state party president Laxmikant Bajpai, union minister Rama Shankar Katheria and parliamentarian Babulal about the pending payment but to no avail.

The BJP leader said he has no other option but to end his life if the railways went ahead with the auction of his property to recover dues.
