BJP blames Congress over migrant issue
New Delhi, Nov 29: BJP president Rajnath Singh on Friday took a swipe at the Centre and Delhi governments, saying internal migration have taken place due to wrong policies of the Congress and if voted to power, his party would identify such migrants and ensure their basic necessities are met.

"We are sticking to our stand (on illegal immigrants from Bangladesh). The first thing which needed to be done in Delhi is the party will definitely go for their identification," he told reporters here.

Singh said internal migration was taking place due to the wrong policies of the Union and State governments and also criticised the Congress-led UPA and Sheila Dikshit government in Delhi for treating migrants as a "burden".

Singh: CM has termed migrants as a burden to Delhi

"Time and again, Delhi Chief Minister had insulted the migrants from Poorvanchal and Uttranchal and termed them as burden on Delhi," he said, adding this is very unfortunate when according to a UN report their contribution in Delhi's GDP is around 10 per cent.

The internal migrants live in 1,639 unauthorised colonies, 860 JJ Clusters, slums and in open areas. He announced that the BJP would form a 'Migrants Commission' which would recommend policies to the government for better treatment, housing, employment, rehabilitation of people living in slums, clusters and unauthorised colonies.

The party has decided to launch 'Atal Bihari Vajpayee Punarvas Yojna' for the welfare of these people, he said. The party manifesto also promised allotment of pucca houses on lease hold basis and freehold rights to the people living in slums and rehabilitation colonies.
