Bizarre: Monkey drives off UPSRTC bus in Bareilly

Lucknow, Dec 23: Although Monkey Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated internationally on December 14 ever year, but this mischievous monkey had his day on Wednesday, Dec 23.

In a bizarre incident, a monkey showed off his driving skills, when he drove a bus in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh.


Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus was parked at old roadways station when a simian got the urge to drive. The primate started the bus engine in the second gear and rammed into other buses.

Thankfully, the driver of the bus, who was taking a nap, after a long journey, woke up and managed to regain the control of the bus. The conductor of the bus had gone out to look for passengers.

When the driver intervened, the panicked monkey jumped out of the bus before shifting the gear to second level.

"Monkeys create lot of menace near bus depots. They have even damaged CCTV cameras installed there", UPSRTC regional manager SK Sharma was quoted as saying.

"Three years ago, they were expelled by the municiapl authorities, but they have returned again now", he added.
