Patna, Oct 12: Bihar is holding the first phase of assembly elections 2015 today (Monday, Oct 12) for 49 seats.

Let's take a look at the statistics for the electrifying first phase polls:
Electorate: 1,35,72,339 (Males: 72,37,253; Females: 63,17,602; Transgenders: 405)
Candidates: 583 (including 54 women)
Party-wise candidates: BSP- 41, BJP- 27, RJD- 17, LJP- 13, Congress- 8, RLSP- 6, CPI-25, CPI (M)- 12
130 candidates face serious criminal charges.
146 are crorepatis (25% of total candidates), 19-JD(U), 18-BJP, 11-RJD.
Constituencies: 49
Total districts: 10- Banka, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Jamui, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Munger, Nawada, Samastipur, Sheikhpura.
Polling time:
7 am to 3 am in 9 constituencies- Tarapur, Jamalpur, Suryagraha, Rajauli (SC), Govindpur, Sikandara (SC), Jamui, Jhajha and Chakai.
7 am to 4 pm in 4 constituencies- Alauli (SC), Beldaur, Katoria (ST), Belhar.
7 am to 5 pm in other 36 constituencies.
Polling Stations: 13,212 (Critical- 7,384 and Left-Wing Extremists-hit- 2,255)
Paramilitary personnel: 1.2 lakh; 5 helicopters including 3 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and 33 motor boats.
935 video cameras and 339 android mobile phones have been put into use to ensure free and fair poll.

Results: The counting of votes will take place on Sunday, November 8 for 243-assembly seats of Bihar.
