Big blow for Congress! Former UPA minister Krishna Tirath joins BJP

New Delhi, Jan 19: In a huge set back for the Congress, ahead of crucial Delhi assembly elections, senior Congress leader and UPA Cabinet Minister, Krishna Tirath, on Monday joined rival BJP.

Cong stalwart Krishna Tirath joins BJP
Tirath met BJP president Amit Shah at his residence and joined the BJP. Shah, along with Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay, welcomed the Congress leader into party fold.

"My role in the party will be given by the party President but I will work for the people," Tirath said after joining the saffron party.

Tirath's induction will be an achievement for the BJP which is on a spree to induct leaders from rival Congress and AAP as it will make the party stronger.

Reacting over Tirath's induction BJP leader Srikant Sharma said, "No one wants to contest from Congress."

Meanwhile, reacting over Tirath's hopping party Congress leader Randeep Surjewala called her 'opportunist'.

"Opportunist leaders BJP ko hi mubarak," Surjewala was quoted by ANI as saying.

Last week, former IPS officer and social activist Kiran Bedi joined BJP and later former AAP leaders Shazia Ilmi and Vinod Kumar Binny joined BJP.

Days after joining BJP, Kiran Bedi today said that in Prime Minister Narendra Modi the party has with it the "world's most beautiful face" as she rebutted AAP's claim that she was brought in by the saffron outfit because it does not have a face of its own in Delhi.

"BJP has got the world's most beautiful face with it, i.e. Narendra Modi and his leadership. After that we are just stars who are revolving around him," the former Team Anna member said as she shot down AAP's charge that she was inducted into BJP for being its face here for Delhi polls.
