Bengaluru, Dec 16: The National Investigation Agency is sending mutual legal assistance treaty to the United States of America in a bid to get information on the conversations made by members of the D Gang which plotted the killing of BJP leaders in Gujarat.
NIA officials who took over the probe into the Bhrauch murder cases have found that the perpetrators of the crime had used various services to converse and since their servers are based in the United States of America, the request was being made.
The NIA says that their preliminary investigation clearly shows that the plot went beyond the murders of the two BJP leaders in Bharuch. The gang had planned on eliminating several other persons and hence the conspiracy is larger that one would have imagined.
The Gujarat ATS had first cracked the case after the murders of former Bharuch district BJP president, Shirish Bangali and general secretary of the Bharuch BJP youth wing Pragnesh Mistry were murdered. It was found that the sharpshooters were sent to eliminate the two leaders at the insistence of Javed Chikna who is a member of the D Gang.
The NIA suspects that this case goes beyond Bharuch and gradually the plot would unravel. We will tap the other states as well including Karnataka where a similar plot was busted recently by the Bengaluru police, an NIA officer informed.
The NIA also is questioning Nasir Khan Pathan a resident of Surat who is alleged to be part of the plot. Pathan has been accused of handing over the weapons to one of the shooters which was used to eliminate the two leaders.
