The 12-hour shut down called by the Left parties has brought Tripura to a standstill. While Congress in the state decided to protest in support of Aakrosh Diwas, the BJP rallied shouting slogans in support of demonetisation.

Government offices remained shut in the state with private offices also choosing to down shutters. Business establishments took a beating with shops, wholesale and retail markets shutting down over Bharat Bandh.

Schools and colleges remained shut crippling normal life in Tripura as part of dawn to dusk strike. Private as well as public transport vehicles remained off road with security forces patrolling the street as precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident. While air transport remained unaffected, road and rail transport took a severe hit.

The opposition parties of TMC and Congress decided to stay away from the bandh call but to protest in form of rallies against the government's demonetisation move while the BJP rallied in support of demonetisation and against Aakrosh Diwas in various parts of the state.
