Three days after a three-and-a-half-year-old child was sexually assaulted in a pre-school in Bengaluru, the police arrested the Prinicipal and general manager of the school on Tuesday. The duo was booked under sec 188 of the IPC and will be produced before the court. The zonal head of the chain of schools, came down to Bengaluru from Mumbai on Tuesday following which the police took him into custody.

Police question B’luru school management

The police referred to the complaint filed by the parents of the survivor accusing the management of attempting to shield the accused instead of fighting for the child's security and safety. The zonal in-charge who was supposed to arrive in Bengaluru on Monday landed only on Tuesday. Parents of the survivor alleged that they approached the zonal chief when staff of the local branch in Bellandur refused to initiate any action. Parents alleged that a man named Manju had abused their child and expressed suspicion of other children being subjected to sexual harassment at the hands of an alleged paedophile.

In their statement to OneIndia, the parents had alleged that the zonal chief had promised action but no real action ever came. Parents gathered outside the school for the second day in a row to protest against the management that failed to keep their wards safe.

The management on Monday declared that the school will remain shut until further announcements, giving in to demands from angry parents. Agitated parents demanded that the school not open until a permanent solution for safety of the vulnerable children is ensured. They also demanded that all the staff involved in shielding the culprit identified as Manju, be booked.

The incident once again put the spotlight educational institutions and their failure in ensuring safety of vulnerable children who study there.
