Bengaluru: Brain dead, Rajeev saved life of 8 people in New York
Bengaluru, March 9: 26- year-old, Rajeev Naidu who saved lives of eight people in New York, decided to donate his organs after he was declared brain dead at Brooklyn Hospital Centre in USA. The organs were harvested on Sunday, March 6.
Rajeev, who hails from Bengaluru was living in Washington where he was pursuing his masters in engineering from New York university. But later in February he was admitted in a hospital for lung infection and was undergoing treatment under the care and guidance of his roommates.
Rajeev's sister Kruthika Purushottam, a techie with HP told the media "We had never expected this , our family has not seen Rajeev after he fell ill in Febuary but we are proud of him that he gave life to others and promoted organ donation by donating his whole body."
"My family members have gone to take his body and we are expecting the body to arrive in Bengaluru by Thursday, March 10. Following that the last rites are likely to be performed on Friday, March 11," she concluded.
"Rajeev, had completed his engineering from PESIT in 2014 and was very charming and caring in nature as he always use to interact with juniors. Rajeev has made India proud by donating his organ to a needy person in USA," his friend from PESIT said.Rajeev was a great follower of New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum.
