Mumbai, Oct 28: In a major breakthrough a man who allegedly instigated a youth to stab a constable protesting the beef ban in Maharashtra has been held.
The Maharashtra ATS which is probing the case took into custody Shoaib Khan a 25 year old youth who allegedly instigated Abdul Malik to stab a constable at Yavatmal protesting the beef ban in the state.
Malik the son of an officer in the Maharashtra irrigation department had allegedly stabbed a constable and while doing so said, your government bans beef, now take this.
The ATS is now probing whether this was a one off incident or is there a pattern behind it. Mallik and Khan were well known to each other the ATS says. An officer with the ATS informed OneIndia that Khan had allegedly brainwashed Malik into stabbing the constable.
He was told that if a government official is attacked then it would spread a larger message in Maharashtra which imposed a ban on beef.
The ATS which took over the probe also found that these youth may be members of the Electronic Warfare Group which is allegedly the online wing of the Students Islamic Movement of India. ATS officials say that the probe is on to find out if any more persons are involved in this incident.
The scanner is also on one Maulana from Yavatmal who is allegedly behind this attack, ATS officials also say.
