Bedi stresses on introduction of helpline for cyber crime

A toll free number should be launched to enable the victims of cyber offences to report their cases and seek help.

Puducherry, Oct 24: Noting that cyber crime is a global crime, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today said a toll free number should be launched to enable the victims of cyber offences to report their cases and seek help.

Releasing the second edition of "National Cyber Crime Reference Hand Book" by the National Cyber Safety and Security Standards here, she said, "cyber crime is a global crime that is wrecking the systems."

There should be no policeman in Puducherry, who is incapable of dealing with cyber crimes, she said, adding online training programme on the same could also be introduced for all sections in the police force.

NGOs should also be trained and special courses could be introduced in the curriculum in the University here, she suggested.

Former Madras High Court Judge, Justice S K Krishnan also spoke on the ocassion. Director General of Police S K Gautam and Law Secretary to Puducherry government were among those present.
