New Delhi, May 21: He's known to be a Congress-baiter and a BJP supporter but Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has sprung surprise after he praised Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and criticised Narendra Modi ministers as 'arrogant'.
In an interview to Aaj Tak to mark the first anniversary of the Yoga guru lauded Rahul Gandhi for his efforts to revive sinking Congress.
Ramdev praises Rahul Gandhi:
"Rahul has infused a new life in the Congress which is commendable. Such a big political house was bogged down by inertia. But it is back on its wheels now," he said.
He further added that Rahul has succeeded in cornering the Modi Government on farmers' issue and development.
Replying to a question on Rahul's 'suit-boot ki sarkar' remark and allegations that the present dispensation is pro-industrialists, Ramdev said, "Does anyone become a criminal by wearing a suit?"
Ramdev slams Modi ministers:
Ramdev praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi but stressed that few ministers in his Cabinet have become arrogant after coming to office.
He claimed that several leaders have become inaccessible by changing their phone numbers. [People with political clout get Padma Awards, says Baba Ramdev]
"Barring Modi, Arun Jaitley and Amit Shah, most people have changed their phone numbers. This is not appropriate. Some people have become arrogant. They should address the grievances of people," he added.
Baba Ramdev had earlier brought embarrassment to the Centre with his remark that it is a known fact that people lobby for prestigious Padma awards and those with political clout get it.
