In a massive setback to BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa, the ACB has filed two FIRs over illegal land denotification. The total loss due to denotification by Yeddyurappa when he was the Chief Minister is pegged at a whopping Rs 3,800 crore.

BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa

Based on a complaint filed by one Dr D Aiyappa, the Anti Corruption Bureau has registered two FIRs against B S Yeddyurappa under sections 7,8, 13(1) (c)(d) and 13 (2) of the prevention of corruption act and sections 406,420 and 120 B of the IPC. The complainant has alleged that when B S Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister in 2010 he had illegally denotified land identified by the Bengaluru Development Authority to be developed as layouts.

The complainant has alleged that the then Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. BDA official Basavarajendra, Gowrishankar S N, officials of Urban development department Premachandra, Basavaraju and Subhir Harisingh conspired to denotify land that was acquired to form the Dr K Shivaram Karanth layout. B S Yeddyurappa is accused of denotifying 18,975 sites of various dimensions, thus allowing illegal sale of the sites.

The complainant has alleged that the BDA was to pegged to get Rs 5,600 crore from the sale of these sites. The total cost of developing the sites would come up to Rs 1,847 crores. After deducting the costs, the BDA was slated to get a profit Rs 3,800 crore from the sale of sites. B S Yeddyurappa is accused of causing a loss of Rs 3,800 crore to the BDA by denotifying the land that had been acquired.

The FIR comes at a time when the BJP is all set to launch a massive attack on the Congress over income tax raids on minister D K Shivakumar. The FIR is dated August 10, 2017, but has emerged a day before the BJP begins its massive protest against the Siddaramaiah government. The FIR comes as a massive setback to Yeddyurappa who is barely coming out clean in many cases of corruption against him.
