At least 20 injured in train accident at Barcelona station
At least 20 people have been injured on Friday in a train accident at a station in the Spanish city of Barcelona during the morning hour.
However, no deaths have been reported so far. It is not yet known what caused the train to crash.
Among the wounded ones, five have been seriously injured and were sent to hospitlals.
The photos on the social media shows that a train had hit the buffers, with the front end crumpled and the casing partially torn off.
The incident occurred at 7.15 a.m. when the train from Sant Vicenc de Calders, in the Catalan province of Tarragona, was arriving at the Francia station in Barcelona city centre.
While pulling into one of the station platforms, the train was apparently unable to stop and rammed into the buffer zone at the end of the track, reports Efe news.
According to witnesses, the accident did not interrupt other train services from the station but platforms adjacent to the affected train have been closed.
