Assembly elections: Campaigning for Punjab and Goa ends, voting to begin on Feb 4
The Election commission of India on Thursday issued a prohibition protocol during 48 hours before the end of polls.
New Delhi, Feb 2: The campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab and Goa came to an end on Thursday. The two states will go to polls on Saturday to elect new assemblies.
The Election commission of India on Thursday issued a prohibition protocol during 48 hours before the end of polls. The prohibition has been imposed on election-related material on TV, radio or newspapers.
Earlier in the day, police said that the prohibition will start at 5 pm on Thursday and will continue till 5 pm on Saturday. Police are carrying out spot checks on vehicles at election time to make sure they are not loaded with freebies, including cash, alcohol and drugs in the poll-bound states. Also, all security arrangements had been put in place at all polling booth venues.
