Ashok Gehlot named Gujarat Congress general secretary
The change of guard comes as the state is going to face assembly polls at the end of 2017.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been appointed general secretary of Gujarat Congress on Wednesday.
Gehlot has replaced Gurudas Kamat who had handled the party affairs till now.
According to reports, the Congress has revamped the entire team in Gujarat by replacing the general secretary in charge and appointing four new secretaries.
The change of guard comes as the state is going to face assembly polls at the end of 2017.
BJP Chief Amit Shah has called for the uprooting of Congress party at the recently concluded executive meet held in Gandhinagar.
The incumbent party with 121 seats in the current assembly intends to surpass 150-plus mark.
