Dharwad, Feb 10: As Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad battles for life, a village is united in prayer. This small village Betadur in Dharwad district of North Karnataka is united in sorrow, joy and prayer.

While yesterday there were scenes of jubilation at the village after they realised that Koppad was alive, today there are special prayers being organised to pray for his survival.

A medical bulletin yesterday stated that Koppad who survived at the Siachen Glacier was in coma and extremely critical. He has been put on a ventilator and his family is beside him today.

The villagers can only pray and hope. Says Ramesh Koppad a relative of the Lance Naik, " it was sheer miracle that he was alive. We are hoping for another miracle that he survives now."

A village unites in prayer:

The kind of unity this village has displayed is very heart rendering. When they learnt that Lance Naik Koppad had gone missing, the entire village had gathered outside his home and shared the tears of the family. When the news that he was alive was being aired on television, the village shared the smiles of the family as well.

The wife, mother and brother of Lance Naik Koppad are in Delhi today. They were extremely happy to find out that he was alive and thanked God for this miracle.

The mother of Koppad had told OneIndia yesterday that she was sure that here son would be alive. I have given birth to me and I knew somewhere deep down he would be alive she had also said.

Koppad's relatives are in constant touch with those in Delhi. Each one is eager and it seems that the entire village has come to a standstill. All are doing their bit to help us out says Ramesh. He is the son of the village and has done the nation proud.

The entire country knows about our village because of him. Everyone is praying hard that he survives and we do feel confident that he will battle this phase just like how he showed courage earlier while surviving in such harsh conditions, Ramesh also added.
