So now, Times Now's Arnab Goswami will wage his daily war on TV, shielded by 20 armed guards!
New Delhi, Oct 17: Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of Times Now will be protected by 20 guards including two personal security officers. Goswami will be provided the Y category security cover after he recieved threats from Pakistan based terrorist groups.
The decision to provide Goswami Y category security was taken by the home ministry following an assessment done by the Intelligenc Bureau. The home ministry has directed the Maharashtra government to make arrangements for his security.
Goswami has been recieving threats due to the comments made by him against Pakistan. The IB says that there is a clear threat perception to him. Based on our analysis we recommended to the home ministry to provide him with Y category security the IB officer said.
There are four categories of security cover that is provided in India. They are Z Plus' ( 40 guards with two escort vehicles), 'Z' (30 guards with one escort vehicle), 'Y' (20 guards) and 'X' (four guards).
