Later, army sources told reporters that the jawan is a native of Bhosoli Gaom village in Darjeeling. The jawan, identified as Rifleman Bhupal Mukhia, was interrogated at a police station in central Kashmir's Humama. Mukhia admitted that he was carrying the grenades.
He told the police that he was carrying the grenades so that he could cause a blast in the river during his fishing. The Jawan has also admitted to the involvement of junior-level officers with him (jawan) being the courier.
Further investigation is on to know the exact reason behind the entire incident, said army sources. Mukhia was arrested by the anti-hijacking squad at the airport.
