The authorities say that in Hindi an unmarried girl is referred to as 'kunwari kanya.'
Are you a virgin not not is part of a form that one would have to fill up before joining Patna's premier autonomous health facility, the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS).
Following a protest, the authorities now say that this was an error due to poor translation of the marital declaration form. The form mandates that the person filling it declare whether he is a bachelor, widower or virgin. It also asks the person to state if he has more than one wife.
