The Shiv Sena chief on Friday slammed Defence Minister AK Antony saying, "defence minister and his team are sitting like impotents".
The Shiv Sena chief, in the party newspaper Saamna, was reacting to the recent warship and submarine accidents.
In the newspaper editorial, Uddhav said he wondered why the minister was still sticking to his chair despite so many tragedies.
"Sindhurakshak went down killing 18 and now Sindhuratna met with an accident. The defence minister saved himself and sunk Admiral Joshi. It seems the Indian forces have stopped producing guns and canons and have started making Fevicol. That's why it looks like the defence minister is sticking to the chair even after so many accidents."
"The defence forces are infested with termites. Submarines are turning into ashes; MiGs are collapsing and jawans are being beheaded on the border. And in spite of all this, the defence minister and his team are sitting like impotents," he said.
Antony was trying to save himself by making Admiral Joshi, who quit as navy chief, a scapegoat for recent accidents, said Thackarey.
"In Admiral Joshi's tenure, maximum number of accidents took place in the Navy and he resigned because of that. Then why, on the same grounds of morality, is the defence minsietr not quitting?...If by sinking Admiral Joshi, Antony is trying to save himself, then this is the height of shamelessness. Had Antony resigned before the Navy chief, he would have maintained his dignity....Antony is a useless Defence Minister. Defence ministry is not his cup of tea. He will be better as Education or Social Justice minister but this responsibility has been forced upon him by Sonia (Gandhi) and that's why he cannot even explain his pain," he said.
