Elections: Anti-Rahul Gandhi Congress leaders likely to be sacked

New Delhi, Jan 16: Congress may get a make over ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha election which is expected to be held by May 2014. Senior leader and External Affair Minister Salman Khurshid on Thursday, Jan 16 hinted that party leaders might be sacked from the party if they oppose Rahul Gandhi.

"If anyone has a problem with Rahul, they will have to leave," said Khurshid while speaking to TV channels. The Congress minister's statement once again showed that the senior party leaders are keen to make Rahul its prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming general elections.

Continuing his statement, Khurshid also said, "Time has come for generational change. There shouldn't be adjustment problems with Rahul. Those who have a problem with him will have to go."

There were reports saying that many leaders within the party have been opposing Rahul Gandhi from become the PM nominee of Congress. On the contrary, many other top leaders, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Rashid Alvi and Oscar Fernandes, backed Rahul's name for the top job.
