Another star from entertainment world dies: Punjabi singer commits suicide

Bhatinda, June 9: 38-year-old well-known Punjabi singer Dharampreet has been found dead at his residence in Bhatinda, Punjab. His body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room.

Dharampreet allegedly killed self on Sunday, June 7. However, the news broke a day later. According to sources, wife and son of the singer were not present when he committed suicide.

Dharampreet's wife and son had gone to her parents' place for summer vacation. Dharampreet's mother, who was present at their Bhatinda house, got suspicious when he did not come out of his room for a long time.

His mother called their neighbours who later entered his room breaking the door of the room. However, it was too late as the neighbours found his body hanging from the ceiling fan.

An FIR under section 174 of the IPC has been lodged and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. According to sources, the singer was under depression.

While many believe that Dharampreet might have killed himself due to depression, Bhatinda Police, however, claimed that they have not discovered any suicide note from his room.
