Another blast in West Bengal's Burdwan; 2 women injured
New Delhi, May 9: West Bengal has witnessed yet another blast and once again at the Burdwan district. Two women were injured in the blast even as police are ascertaining the nature of the blast.
The blast occurred at 8 AM in the Katwa's Begunkhola village in Burdwan district. The two women are being treated at a nearby hospital.
While the casualties were limited, the impact of the blast was extremely high. Police officials confirmed to Oneindia that a blast had occurred at 8 AM today.
The impact was massive and it even brought down a roof in the vicinity of where the explosion occurred.
There is however no confirmation on what triggered off the blast even as initial investigations suggest that it could be crude bombs.
Police sources say that investigations are on and a forensics team is at the spot looking into the material.
Bombs- one after another:
West Bengal has witnessed a large number of such incidents in the recent past. Burdwan had hit the headlines after a module of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh had been busted.
Only a few days back a major explosion in Midnapore claimed 17 lives which included 12 children who were working in an illegal firecracker unit. Several blasts were also reported during the recently held civic polls, but all were bombs meant to scare and not kill.
