The Gandhian crusader now has come up with a nine-step agenda which may spoil plans of Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the general election. While AAP was busy in declaring names of its candidates for the poll, Anna informed that he will support independent candidates in the 2014 general elections, some against top leaders of Kejriwal's party.
AAP candidates too go through similar kind of eligibility tests
According to sources, independent candidates, who want support from Anna, will have to go through a nine step tests to prove their honesty. A few of them are -- no criminal record, an oath to honesty and dedication to work for a public cause. Candidates cannot be affiliated to any political party. Here it can be mentioned that AAP candidates too go through similar kind of eligibility tests.
Former Karnataka Lokayukta -- Santosh Hegde is the chief of the committee comprising social activist Rajender Singh, popularly known paniwala baba, PV Rajagopal of Ekta Parishad and Yashwant Prakash of Prayas. The committee will scrutinize the credentials of independent candidates.
One of the committee members was quoted as saying, "Hazare ji has made it clear that he would support people who have live a simple life like him and are not linked with any political party."
The new Team Anna will shortlist independent candidates. The committee will also come up with a people's manifesto before the elections.
