Bangalore, Sept 20: Extremely disappointed by the Internationally acclaimed Kannada writer U R Ananthamurthy's comments on Narendra Modi, the latter's fans have retaliated by sending money orders to the author's residence to help him buy a one-way ticket out of India.

On an earlier occasion, URA had expressed his displeasure at Narendra Modi being the potential Prime Minister, saying that he would "leave India" if that happens.

According to a report in, the writer has expressed displeasure at the attitude of Narendra Modi's fans, condemning them of attacking anyone who criticizes their leader.

Ananthamurthy called Narendra Modi's fans 'fascists'.

Drawing incidents from the past, he said,"I won't live in a country ruled by Modi. When I was young, I used to criticise former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. But, his supporters never attacked us. They always respected our views. Modi supporters are now behaving like Fascists. They are behaving like the Fascists in Germany during Hitler. I don't want to see a man like Modi in the chair, where once a man like Nehru sat and ruled. I am too old and unwell. If Modi becomes the PM, it will be a big shock to me. I won't live."

The fans of the writer and intellectuals too have shown their displeasure at the writer being attacked. His original statement on Modi went viral, which attracted the criticism of Modi fans. Reacting to this URA said,"Their reaction is shocking. It is scary. If it is not fascism, then what is fascism? If it is the situation even before the elections, what will happen, if Modi comes to power?"
