Amit Shah in Karnataka: The BJP's national president and Rajya Sabha MP, Amit Shah will be on a three day visit to Karnataka starting today. This is part of his 110 day nationwide tour to strengthen the party.

The visit is significant as the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections 2018 are round the corner. During his visit, the BJP president is scheduled to meet party legislators from the state.

He will also chair meetings of the party's state core group and political affairs committee. Shah will discuss the Assembly elections with the state leaders, the BJP said in a statement.

Besides attending a series of meetings with local leaders, he will also address a gathering of college students and intellectuals in Bangalore.

Shah's visit is also important in view of a factional feud between state party president B S Yeddyurappa and former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa.

The central leadership had sought to control the issue by acting against some state leaders. Shah has already announced that Yeddyurappa will be the party's chief ministerial candidate for the assembly poll.

Strategy:

Shah is likely to induct prominent leaders and MLAs during his visit. He will bring with him three survey reports conducted by the various agencies. This would help the BJP draw out a strategy ahead of the elections.

Shah has with him a consolidated report of 224 constituencies. The report indicates both the party's strength and weaknesses. Shah would emphasise on the need to focus on the weak constituencies.

During his three day visit, he would draw a road map for the workers which have to be implemented over the next 6 months. Following this a feedback would be given to the central leadership which would then take a call on the final ticket list for the candidates.
