Amit Shah declared new BJP president
New Delhi, July 9: Former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah has emerged as the consensus candidate between the BJP and the RSS.

Foremr BJP president and the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, "Shah emerged as the unanimous candidate for the Post of the BJP National President.

"The parliamentary board of the BJP, its top decision making body, announced the big decision during a meeting on Wednesday.

Known to be a sharp political strategist, the former Gujarat home minister remains Modi's most trusted political aide and masterstrategist. Shah, who had a plastics and printing business, met Modi in the late 1980s.

Shah, the close aide of the PM Narendra Modi has been rightly rewarded for his hard work that led to the clear mandate of the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.

Shah, also referred to as the BJP's "Mr Fix it" was given credit for the BJP's massive win in Uttar Pradesh. With Shah as the UP incharge of the BJP, the party secured victory in 71 out of 80 seats.

Earlier, the names of Jagat Prakash Nadda, P Muralidhar Rao and Om Mathur were doing the rounds for the party's top post.
