Alliance through matrimony! Raj Laxmi's shagun brings old friends Lalu and Mulayam closer

Lucknow, Dec 8: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav alongwith his wife Rabri Devi were in Lucknow this weekend to visit Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. The former Bihar chief minister couple arrived in Uttar Pradesh's capital with formal 'shagun' of their youngest daughter, Raj Laxmi.

New alliance brings Lalu, Mulayam closer
Raj Laxmi will be wedded to Mulayam Singh's grand-nephew Tej Pratap. With this matrimony, Mulayam and Lalu are set to turn their political friendship into relationship.

While offering shagun to his new relatives Lalu said, "Our hearts are our gifts."

Welcoming Lalu as his new family member Mulayam, at his Vikramaditya Marg residence, said, "Now our dear Laluji is a relative, this bond will continue for generations. We welcome him."

The engagement will take place in next week in Delhi while the grand wedding is being planned in mid-February.

This development comes after Mulayam and Lalu announced to come together to reincarnate the Janata Dal.

Tej Pratap who was born to Late Ranveer Singh Yadav and Mridula Yadav on November 21, 1987 in Saifai village of Etawah district entered Lok Sabha from family stronghold of Mainpuri after Mulayam vacated the seat.

Experts are viewing marriage as prelude to the mega merger which the Janata Dal breakaways are planning.

The two party chiefs had split during the 1990s for leadership of the Mandal classes and Mulayam had even publicly regretted when Lalu vetoed his name for prime ministership in the United Front government in 1997.

The marriage will definitely bring the RJD and SP together and erase bitter memories of the 1990s.
