All in the family: Sasikala overturns Jaya’s decision, brings back expelled kin
The convicted AIADMK interim general secretary has brought back members of her family who were expelled by Jayalalithaa in 2011
Its all in the family now for the AIADMK - convicted AIADMK interim general secretary Sasikala's nephew T T V Dhinakaran has been appointed as deputy general secretary of the party. Interestingly, she has also inducted another close relative Venkatesan.
It is to be noted that both Dhinakararan and Venketesan were expelled from the party in 2011 by former chief minister Jayalalithaa. However, Sasikala on Tuesday decided to take them back after they tendered an 'apology'.
During the ongoing crisis in Tamil Nadu, Dhinakaran was seen playing a key role in the affairs of the party. He had even accompanied Sasikala to the Raj Bhavan when she staked a claim to form the government, and is considered to be Sasikala's right-hand man.
In December 2011, Jayalalithaa had expelled Sasikala and 12 of her close relatives, including her husband M Natarajan from the primary membership of the party. Dhinakaran is the son of Sasikala's sister Vanithamani and had also served as an MP of both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
