Chandigarh, April 12: The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday, April 12 held protests across Punjab against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and accused the AAP leadership of double-speak over Satluj-Yamuna Link Canal water.
The protests at all district headquarter cities and towns were led by Punjab ministers and party legislators.
The protestors raised slogans against the AAP leadership, including its convener Kejriwal. They also burnt effigies of Kejriwal at various places, saying the AAP leadership was misleading people of Punjab on the water issue.
"The AAP leadership, including Kejriwal, is misleading the people in Punjab. They say one thing on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal in Punjab and another while in Delhi. The Kejriwal government in Delhi is also responsible for the demolition of a 'piao' (water kiosk) outside Gurdwara Sis Ganj in Delhi," Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said in Amritsar.
The ruling SAD has accused Kejriwal of double-speak on the SYL water issue by saying in Punjab that the canal should not be constructed while his government told the Supreme Court that it supported the Haryana government's stand on its construction.
