Pics: Aishwarya and Hollande strike chords over lunch, discuss movies and awards
New Delhi, Jan 27: Doning a red Banarsi saree, beauty queen and actor Aishwarya Rai looked nothing less than bella donna. Representing the Indian culture and vibrancy, the actress said she had a very "hospitable" experience with the French President Francois Hollande. And they struck a chord immideately.
The two discussed about a lot of subjects, ranging movies and her experience in Cannes. An insider said that the French President even asked the actress to join him at the table.
It is to be noted here that the former beauty queen is a past recipient of the prestigious ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters', which is a civilian award presented by the French government. Aishwarya's deep connection to the country of France roots in the fact that she is the brand ambassador of French cosmetic company L'Oreal Paris.
Hollande attended the lunch after being a guest at the Republic Day parade at Rajpath. Some of the other guests who attended the lunch included dignitaries like Ritu Beri, who is also a recipient of Chevalier Des Arts et Des Lettres award, one of the highest civilian awards by the French government.
She was awarded for her contribution to the enrichment of Indo-French cultural relations. Manish Arora too graced his presence, apart from other businessmen and politicians.
