Mumbai, Feb 17: After a video went viral on social media, the national carrier Air India on Tuesday, Feb 17 said in an official statement said, "We are distressed at the video on the Social media showing our staff in poor light. The matter is being examined and we request our patrons to review details on ticket and any update communicated to them."
According to NDTV report, the insensitive incident took place on Saturday, Feb 14 morning when the Air India Staff refused to let angry passengers onboard, at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
The passengers had reportedly checked-in five minutes later than the scheduled time. That's why the staff didn't allow family to board the flight.
The video has over 8,63,025 views and 35,394 shares, so far.
In the video, a staffer is heard as saying, "Once you are late, you are late. You lose the flight. Nothing is free."
The distraught passengers were justifying their reason for late check-in by saying that "they had received wrong information from a travel website's message".
The video was made and uploaded by a passenger, named Shivendra Namdeo, on the social networking website Facebook, that created a furore among netizens.
In his Facebook post, he has written, "This is How AIR INDIA , , So called pride of INDIA . . . . . Treats their PASSENGER.
PLZ Share. . . . . . Some other day you might be the Victim.
As Per the Message from AIR INDIA one should be within 45 mins from departure . . . . . & Even though PPL are 55 mins before departure. They are not allowed to enter.
One person has her mother in ICU & In Danger of LOsing Her life. . . . Sadly , even though their is enough time AIR INDIA doesn't allow to board.
