The Sasikala Natarajan faction of the AIADMK is being dealt blow after blow. With a FIR against TTV Dinakaran being the latest to add to list of AIADMK Amma's miseries, the O Panneerselvam camp is confident of gaining more numbers, relevance and strength. OneIndia has been reporting on leaders of Sasikala faction meeting members of the Panneerselvam camp. While it was said that the meetings could suggest a possible patch-up between the two warring factions, sources suggest that the meetings could be for a different reason altogether.
With the Income tax raids on health minister Vijaya Bhaskar becoming the gateway for rebellion in the TTV Dinakaran camp, Monday's FIR against the deputy generals secretary has only made matter worse. Dinakaran who was in the process of pacifying a divided house is now compelled to protect himself first. While the AIADMK's two-leaves symbol war is for another day, Dinakaran's immediate need is to save himself from arrest.
Meanwhile, the Panneerselvam camp is confident about more members of the AIADMK including ministers extending support to them. The recent meetings between senior leaders of the Sasikala camp and Panneerselvam camp's leaders are indicative of the same. While leaders from both sides have kept mum on issues of merger or leaders shifting loyalties, a vibrant confidence has begun spreading within the Panneerselvam camp. Members of the OPS camp are confident that senior ministers in the government will soon extend support to them.
With cases of corruption, bribery and tax evasion piling up against leaders of the Sasikala Natarajan camp, the Panneerselvam camp is emerging as the 'clean' and 'true' party that can take forward Jayalalithaa's legacy. For Panneerselvam, for whom remaining relevant had become a challenge after the R K Nagar bypolls were countermanded, the issues plaguing TTV Dinakaran and Sasikala camp has come as an opportunity to seize the limelight.
