AgustaWestland deal: UPA tried to end graft in defence procurement: Antony

New Delhi, May 4: Former defence minister A.K. Antony on Wednesday, May 4 said the erstwhile UPA government had constantly tried to eliminate corruption from defence procurement.

"UPA onwards, there has been a constant effort that we eliminate corruption from the defence procurement," Antony said during a discussion in the Rajya Sabha on allegations of bribery and corruption in the AgustaWestland chopper deal.


Antony also said that among the initiatives the UPA government took to check corruption in defence procurement was setting up of the Defence Procurement Procedure.
