New Delhi, March 3: In the last few days, we have witnessed protest marches and rallies hosted by students belonging to both the left-affiliated organisations and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in Delhi University. However, on Friday, the picture turned little 'rosier' as the students belonging to the National Students' Union of India decided to gift roses to students in the campus of Ramjas College.

The idea behind distribution of roses in the campus has nothing to do with Valentine's Day which was marked on February 14, but to restore peace in the college campus where the entire clash between the students of the left groups and the ABVP initially started a few days ago.

Rose gift campaign

"Delhi: NSUI students start 'Gift a rose' campaign outside #Ramjas college to restore peace in the campus," tweeted ANI.

The clash between the students of left groups and the ABVP started after the latter protested the participation of Umar Khalid, a student of Jawaharlal Nehru University, in a seminar hosted in Ramjas Colleges a few days ago. During the protests, several students, teachers and journalists were allegedly attacked by students belonging to the ABVP.

The entire matter became a national issue after Gurmehar Kaur--a student of the DU-- posted a message on the Facebook criticising the violence perpetrated against the students by the ABVP members. Kaur received rape threats by members of the ABVP. Since then the entire DU is on a boil. We hope the 'gift a rose' campaign brings some semblance in the top most university of the country.
