New Delhi, Feb 25: It looks like Priyanka Gandhi's supporters have got an opportunity to push their leader up in political ladder of the Congress party. The Rahul Gandhi's sabbatical may prove blessings in disguise to those who have been clamouring in support of Priyanka's bigger role in the party.
Reportedly, new posters are doing rounds in Allahabad in which party workers are demanding that Rahul Gandhi's sister should be given big responsibility in the party.
Protesting for the same with placards in their hands, local supporters said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should be made the acting vice-president of the party.
Adamant party workers have even written a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi regarding the same. According to a report in Hindi daily, the placards read, " Whenever Rahul will go on leave, Priyanka must be given charge".
Party workers have even questioned Rahul Gandhi for taking leave at a time when he should represent people's voice on Land Bill in the Parliament.
This demand to bring Priyanka in the party is not new. Since Lok Sabha rout and subsequent assembly poll defeats, it has been a usual affair.
Recently in the month of January, workers had propped up similar posters. Posters said, "Maiya Behana ko do janmadin ka uphar, adhyaksha bane Priyanka to aaye Congress me nikhar. (Mother (Sonia) give birthday gift to sister (Priyanka) make her party president to infuse a new life into Congress."
It seems, Congress will have a really tough time after Rahul Gandhi sabbatical issue. Congress vice-president has once again unleashed harm to his party, albeit it is not a new phenomena for the grand old party. It is being said that Rahul Gandhi's surprise sabbatical has exposed fault lines in the electorally-battered Congress, which is bracing for a generational change.
