After Delhi double murder, Doctor couple found murdered in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: An elderly doctor couple was found murdered inside their house in posh Sailashree Vihar locality under Chandrasekharpur police station jurisdiction here today.

The incident took place when the two were alone in the two-storey building after they returned from a visit to a temple in the locality this morning, police said.


The bodies of the deceased, identified as Prafulla Mishra and his wife Sushama Mishra, were found in the ground floor of the building, they said.

While strangulation mark was found around Prafulla's neck, his wife's head was suspected to have been hit with a blunt and hard object, the police said.

Commissioner of Police R P Sharma, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi and other senior officials rushed to the spot.

Forensic experts and sniffer dogs were pressed into service as part of the investigation. While robbery was suspected to be a probable motive behind the killing, police was investigating from all angles.

Rooms in the house were found ransacked with household items lying scattered, a senior police official said. Police suspect the involvement of people known to the couple in the double murder.

The deceased man was a retired ophthalmologist and his wife Sushama was a specialist in gynaecology. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and investigation was in progress.
