After Bangalore, now in Telangana; girl, trapped in borewell, found dead
The child, who has been identified as G Girija, slipped into the hole when she had gone to attend the nature's call while her grandparents were working in the fields.
Inside sources had said that she was located at a depth of 45 feet. Rescue operators, including an entire team of NDRF were digging the land parallel to the borewell. An oxygen pipe was also dropped into the hole to help the victim breathe.
However, all efforts to rescue the child went in vain. The girl's father Nagaiah and grandparents were inconsolable. The girl's mother had died two years ago.
Recently, a 9-year-old girl -- Geetha slipped into a stormwater drain in Bangalore on Oct 6. She was finally found in the Madiwala lake in a decomposed state. [Read: Girl's body found in Madiwala lake, 40 hrs later after she slipped into drain]
Soon after she fell into the drain, local residents jumped into the water 6-feet deep drain immediately. But, she could not be traced even after a 2-hour search.
It was a tragic story, hinting at the calousness of BBMP and the state of roads in Bangalore. Geetha had come to the city to enjoy a Dasara vacation 10 days ago. It turned tragic when she slipped into the overflowing drain near Jayadeva hospital. Geetha's family were in Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu.
