Hyderabad, Jan 22: Legendary Telugu actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao breathed his last in the wee hours today in Hyderabad. He was 91.
Battling cancer for years, he made a mark in the Telugu film industry acting as a lead hero in over 240 films, apart from contributing in innumerable Tamil films.
On an overall, his acting career spanned for 75 years.
Winner of the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award, he was also presented India's second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 2011 and the Padma Shri.
He is also known for being a pioneer in shifting the Telugu film industry from Madras to Hyderabad. He also established the Annapurna studios. His son Nagarjuna and daughter-in-law Amala and grandsons followed the revered ANR's (as he was fondly known) steps.
