Actor Dileep's custody extended, to remain in jail until August 22
Dileep has hired a new lawyer to present his case in court
Actor Dileep's judicial custody was extended by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Angamaly on Tuesday. The actor will now remain in jail until August 22. Dileep's custody that ended today has been extended as the probe continues in the actress abduction and molestation case.
Dileep did not make a personal appearance in court on Tuesday and instead appeared via video conferencing. The Kerala High Court earlier had refused to grant bail to the actor forcing him to return to jail despite the police not seeking an extension of custody.
Dileep was arrested on July 10 for his alleged role in the Malayalam actress molestation case that took place in February earlier this year. Dileep has been accused of masterminding the attack and hiring prime accused Pulsar Suni to assault the woman.
Senior advocate B Raman Pillai has been roped in to represent Dileep in the case. The senior advocate had earlier represented Mohammed Nisham, the infamous beedi tycoon who rammed his Hummer into a security guard, killing him.
Earlier in August, Dileep's manager Appunni appeared before the probe team. Despite managing to arrest key people involved in the case, the police have not been able to recover the phone used to record the crime against the actress.
