Aarzoo Singh Chauhan murder case: Killer left for honeymoon, with dead body inside his home

New Delhi, Feb 9: It has been a week since 21-year-old Delhi University's Laxmibai College final year HIndi Honours student, Aarzoo Singh Chauhan was brutally murdered by her alleged boyfriend.

Media reports said that accused 23-year-old Naveen Khatri strangulated Aarzoo, in a fit of rage and in a fear that she would reveal everything about their love affair to his family. [Woman found murdered in northwest Delhi, accused arrested]

Naveen, who killed Aarzoo on Feb 2 in his car, shamelessly got married a day after committing the crime, and that too, when he hid his girlfriend's dead body in the box of his bedroom. [Police probing accomplice, father of accused in DU student case]

To avoid any suspicion, he even sprayed 70 cans of perfume in 3 days, to avoid the smell of decomposed body of Aarzoo.

Naveen even left for honeymoon with his newly-wedded wife, but as the needle of suspicion pointed towards Naveen, police immediately reached his home.

Naveen was then called from the airport and was detained by the police.

On Tuesday, Feb 2, Khatri strangulated Aarzoo and dumped her body in a shaft at his residence in Gurmandi locality which comes under the jurisdiction of Model Town police station.

The police said the accused tried to dump the body somewhere else and also attempted to burn it once, but failed. The matter came to light on Sunday, Feb 7, after neighbours complained of a 'terrible stench' and the police was informed.

Police suspect the involvement of Naveen's father in Aarzoo's killing, as he has been untraceable since the killing took place.

Earlier, some media reports claimed that Aaarzoo was pregnant, but later police clarified that she was not pregnant.

A report also said that Naveen was stalking Aarzoo from last one year, before she gave her consent to marry him.
